Moving and upacking

Well, I lied in the last post. I have had the camera over here for days but I couldn't bring myself to post another picture with junk in the middle of the floor. So finally after our fourth night living here I'm finally at a point to show some pictures. We are making great progress but still have loads of stuff to do (and that's just on the ground floor~). Stuart is working from home on this snow day so it is nice to have him around to help with things I can't reach or balance on my own. Tomorrow morning we are getting insulation blown into our attic, we are hoping to be able to feel the difference.

Last few days before the "offical move"

We had a very productive weekend thanks to my parents and Stuart's parents. We did a ton of painting and moved a Rental Depot truck load of furniture. I have been organizing drawers and rearranging furniture. Thursday is going to be BIG day for us we get our granite installed and our cable and internet will be transferred. If all goes well Thursday night will be our first night in our new home~ There are tons of changes at the house and I will post pictures as soon as I remember to move the camera!

Progress

We are making great progress toward moving in at the new house. Today Ellen and I cleaned drywall dust, put a first coat of paint on the office, painted the ceiling in the kitchen, and primed the kitchen and the dining room. These seem like little things but for the first time in a long time it is actually starting to resemble a "normal" house again. I have an extra long day at work tomorrow (doing someone a favor and working a little extra) but will be back at it working long and hard Saturday (on very little sleep) and Sunday. If the weather cooperates my mom is going to come help paint. We are also very excited to be picking up our new sectional couch this weekend!

Christmas is Coming

After a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with our families the rush is on to finish the upstairs of our new house so that we can move in and decorate for Christmas? (Sound familiar? Last year we were rushing around to finish the hard wood floors and painting on the first floor at Yorkshire so that I could move stuff in from the garage and decorate for the Holidays!) I really do enjoy having a home in order and decorated for the holidays and hope that this is the last year for many many years to come that our home is in such a state this time of year. Stuart spending the beginning of this finishing his plaster work so that we can clean up and finishing PAINTING! Our granite will be installed on December 9th and we are hoping to be living there by the weekend of Dec 11 and 12. On the bright side I have been able to decorate the outside of the new house, pardon the picture Christmas lights at night just don't seem to photograph very well!

Changes

It's been quite a while since we've made a post. Fall is in the air and big changes are coming for Stuart and I. Stuart is getting settled into his position as a professor at U of L. He had multiple students and his lab is starting to come together. I'm still working in Indy on the weekends but I have some days off coming up prior to January. For those of you who don't know we have purchased a larger house in Prospect. We are making some small changes and hope to move in by the begging of December after the kitchen and dining room updates are complete.

So many updates!

Lots had happened to our Family in the last couple of months. Stuart was offered a job at the University of Missouri in Columbia. However the University of Louisville counter offered and we accepted on Oaks Day. Now that we are staying in KY we have been back working on the house. Stuart and I spent his in between semester break painting the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room last week. We still have a very long list of projects to complete but for the first time the end is in sight. We also have a new addition to our family, a 4 year old boxer mix named Ruby. Tonight is a trial run but we are very excited and trying our best to bond with her.

Happy Spring

Hello to All. Hope everyone is getting a chance to spend some quality time outside. Stuart and I have been spending some "free" time working in the yard. Too bad we haven't had any "free" time together so we have been working independently. Last weekend while I was at work Stuart was able to remove some evergreen bushes that we didn't want any more. I plan to splint some grasses from his parents house to plant in the space.

We celebrated Easter on Thursday night with the William's clan. Connor kept everyone entertained. On Sunday morning I drove home from Indy and Stuart drove Rachel and I to Breck County. We got to spend a couple of hours with Jacob who I hadn't seen since Christmas. Mom is on spring break this week and may make the trip to Louisville.

Stuart is currently on a short trip to interview at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He will be back late tomorrow night. We are anxiously awaiting news from the University of Missouri. At this point we should know something in a couple of weeks.

Stuart and I had a great trip to Columbia, Missouri last week for Stuart's interview at UM. Our reception seemed favorable and we will hear something for sure in mid April. I was able to check out the area--approximately 100,000 people, with good public schools, and a variety of hiking trails in the area. There are only a few RN positions currently posted and I learned that I would take a pay cut to work in the city but there are multiple hospitals in town. We were impressed by the vibrant downtown which is home to many small stores and restaurants. However, I was disappointed with the variety of yoga classes offered--I'm spoiled by my friends and teachers at yogeast.

Wisdom Teeth

I get my wisdom teeth extracted tomorrow. I'm a little nervous but Ellen (Stu's Mom) is equipped to take excellent care of me. She is driving me since Stuart has to teach and mom may or may not have school depending on snow. She called earlier wanting to know what foods I wanted, then proceeded to rattle through a whole list of stuff she had already bought. What can I say, I have a GREAT mother-in-law! I have all week to recover.

On a brighter note Staurt and I had a great Valentines Day. We spent the day relaxing and enjoying each others company. We did make a trip down to Jewish to see Cecil, from my church in Breck Co, before his open heart surgery. Praying that he does well tomorrow as well.

fell of the blogging wagon

After a good start to the blog I seem to have gotten a little distracted. It is now February and not much has changed. We are at a standstill of house renovations, once we got used to having our house back to normal it has been hard to dig back in. Stuart has been busy at U of L from 7a to 4p each day and by the time we go to the gym and have dinner all we want to do is be on the couch. I really have no excuse (other than my yoga addiction) for not being more productive during the day and that is my goal in the distant future. Next week I plan on giving the house a thorough cleaning because I am having my wisdom teeth out on Feb 15th and expect to be under the weather for the week. Hopefully February will bring good news on the job front, Stuart and I are both anxiously awaiting information on the Truman Fellowship at Sandia in New Mexico as well as any news on all the other applications out there.

A New Year

Hope everyone is staying warm during this frigid start to the new year. After a wonderful and relaxing holiday season we are trying to get back in the swing of things. Stuart started teaching today. He has three classes this semester including a Senior Level Capstone class. He is still applying for jobs and we hope to start hearing some feedback from all the applications soon. We are attempting a healthy start to the new year. Thanks to Stuart's uncle David we learned that the gym at the end of our street is assoicated with they gym that accepts our membership from Lafayete. We have been 3 time this week, our membership lasts until May--We will be glad when the temperatures pop back up so we can walk. My yoga studio is offering some new classes including Bikram style hot yoga. The temperature in the room hasn't been that warm yet but i'm enjoying the workout. We are still enjoying a break from house remodeling but plan to start back soon. Next up will be painting the laundry room and putting in more convenient storage.
